Drama Club to debut at Delphi

This year, a brand new drama club is being sponsored by Mrs. Cotten. The club’s mission is set on developing students’ understanding of theater, as it will focus on theater techniques such as lights and sound, set design, direction, dialogue, choreography, music, costumes and props, hair and make-up, and publicity. Members will learn about these through hands-on experience, as students will be divided into smaller groups and given a chance to direct a small scene from a given play or musical.

The club will also look to help students learn about theater outside of school. Mrs. Cotten is currently working on scheduling guest speakers from the surrounding community, such as active theater members from Lafayette Civic Theater and the Delphi Opera House. She is also optimistic about taking a field trip to the Indianapolis Murat Theater to see the Broadway musical “Anastasia” in late May. If interested, the sign up sheet is located in the hall by the band/choir room.
