Computer Science replaces Interactive Media
This year, Mrs. Kinzie’s Interactive Media class has been replaced with Computer Science. Though Mrs. Kinzie will continue to teach it, the class will have a much different focus. While Interactive Media focused on the application of technology, Computer Science will focus on the understanding of the internet.
Students will be learning about how the internet works, how computers communicate with it and how computers connect with each other. However, it’s not all online. “The kids are learning by activities rather than by lecture,” stated Mrs. Kinzie. For example, the students played battleship to understand how IP addresses direct users to different sites. The students will be learning the different processes of the internet this year, starting with innovation and then moving on to binary, routers, and, eventually, coding.
