Imaginary numbers wrack the brains of young Algebra 2 students

This past week, the algebra class conducted by Mr. Painter has begun learning imaginary numbers. An imaginary number is the square root of a negative number (i.e. -1, -2, -4, etc.) Technically, they do not exist, yet they can still be calculated and found in mathematics. These numbers are utilized in a multitude of fashions in the real world, such as signal processing, radar technology, and measuring brain waves.
