Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
Honey, I shrunk the kids—wait, wrong movie! If you haven’t seen the influx of creepy-crawly related commercials (there were even a few during the Super Bowl!), let me fill you in:
Ant Man, released in 2015, focused on Doctor Hank Pym and Scott Lang (played by Paul Rudd), also known as Ant-Man. The movie begins with Scott Lang, a former cat burglar, being let out of prison because he’s decided to get straight with the law in order to spend time with his ever-growing daughter (insert an audience “awwwwwhhhhhhh” here). By happenstance, he meets Dr. Pym, who researched and developed a top-secret device that allows the user to shrink, become incredibly strong, and control an army of ants (hence, Ant-Man). There’s some corruption, backstabbing, heroics, and a (mostly) happy ending.
Ant-Man and the Wasp, released in 2018, added in Doctor Pym’s daughter, Hope Pym (Evangeline Lilly), A.K.A. the Wasp. Scott Lang, who thought he was done with the shrinking suit forever, has to leave his daughter once more to help the Wasp save the world. During the action-filled plot, secrets from the past are revealed that seemed to set up another Ant-Man movie.
Well, here we are in 2023, and yep, there’s gonna be another one! Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is sure to be a blockbuster. Shrinking even smaller than before and exploring the “quantumverse,” Ant-Man and the Wasp are likely to run into more obstacles, uncover some more shocking revelations, and save the world (again!!!!!). Will they run into old enemies? Will new nemeses be formed? If you have a hankering to find out, the third Ant-Man movie releases this Friday, February 17, in theaters.
