Hailey Sutton
This week’s senior spotlight features Hailey Sutton and her ongoing passion for softball. Hailey has played recreational softball for ten years and travel ball for four years, as well as playing three years for the school. In every season and on every team, Hailey has been the catcher. When she was young her mom threw her into the sport and she picked up on it naturally. With some great coaches and a strong work ethic, Hailey decided to stick with it and continued to thrive. Hailey’s favorite part about softball is being able to pass on what she knows to younger players. “I love being able to show and teach the younger girls things that I have learned from elsewhere.” Her second favorite thing about softball is the feeling of success that comes with the fun of the sport. “Nothing is better than the feeling of the ball hitting the sweet spot on your bat, bringing in that winning run or that pick off throw being right on line for the tag!” Hailey said. Her goal for this year’s softball season is to hit as many if not more homeruns than her freshman year. She will also be looking to win an all conference award to close out her senior year. Hailey’s plans after high school are to attend Indiana University Kokomo to further her education with a major in nursing and a minor in psychology.
