Culinary Arts class receives SIA grant

Our culinary arts program recently received a grant for $13,947.31 from the SIA Foundation. Mrs. Nethercutt has been trying to get this grant for two years. She said, “Unfortunately, last year we did not receive the grant, but then I reapplied this year and Delphi was one of the few out of 342 applicants to receive the grant.”  This money will be used to redo the current outdated standard kitchens in the culinary arts classroom into more of commercial grade kitchens. The new remodel will include stainless steel countertops, 3 bay wash sinks, and new shelving. The grant requires that all renovations be made within the next year. According to Mrs. Nethercutt, “We are hoping most of the updates will be completed during the summer and that students will get to walk into a new classroom next August.”
