Delphi criminology class participates in active shooter training
On Sept. 27, students from Mr. Schimmel’s criminology class helped in Carroll Consolidated School Corporation’s active shooter training for their staff. Students from both Twin Lakes and Delphi acted as students in the mock emergency situation. Not only did the training allow Carroll staff to experience an emergency situation, but emergency response crews from Carroll County were also able to hone their skills. “It’s important for the staff to know what to expect if something like that were to happen,” said Mr. Schimmel.
Students were also impacted by the training. “Hearing the shots going down the hallway as I’m sitting with my best friends, it taught me to cherish the moment I have,” said one Twin Lakes senior. Ultimately, the training is a sad but necessary part of life now, as Mr. Schimmel so well put. “You train is to be prepared for it. If it unfortunately happens, at least you’ve been exposed to it, and know exactly what to do.”
