DCHS Staff Exclusives: Catering by Courtney
For many students walking down DCHS’ halls, the smell of the Culinary Arts class cooking up new foods is a constant in their commute to classes. Leading the charge of that class is Mrs. Nethercutt, an aficionado of the kitchen herself. Mrs. Nethercutt has had her passion for cooking ever since she was a young girl, helping her mother cook, and baking for her 4-H club. Eventually, that led her into the career she’s in today, teaching high school students safe kitchen habits, and preparing them to be able to cook for themselves in the real world. However, Mrs. Nethercutt has taken it beyond that point, creating her own catering business.
Serving a variety of items, such as pastas, barbeques, brunches, and desserts, Catering by Courtney will make whatever dish you have on your mind. Staffed by her and her family, Mrs. Nethercutt has made a name out of herself locally, servicing weddings, family get togethers and parties alike. “Cakes are my favorite to make. I really enjoying the baking, but decorating them is really fun too.” Mrs. Nethercutt is aware of the impact her teaching career has had on her catering business, and vice versa. “I think they really just both build up my passion. They help me to enjoy more what I do.”
