Anatomy Classes Undertake the Task of Blood Typing
Mrs. Dennison’s anatomy classes have begun conducting blood work labs. The lab consisted of acquiring fake samples of different patients’ blood, and then placing droplets of different antigens and antibodies onto said blood to see if there would be a reaction. The reaction that could take place is called agglutination; this process occurs when antibodies within an individual’s blood cells detect foreign antigens that are not compatible with one’s blood. This causes the blood to clump together and stop moving. If agglutination occurs in someone’s body, a blood transfusion is required in order for blood to begin flowing again.
