Marching to the beat of their own drums

For many high schoolers, there is nothing better than a Friday night football game. At every home game you see the marching band, half of which is composed of senior members. Rain or shine, these seniors are there. These skilled individuals have dedicated a part of their lives to the rigorous task of being a part of the marching band. Enduring hours of marching practices and band camp, they have been steadfast in their promise to represent our school through music. They play under their distinguished band director, Jay Dennison.

Ranging from brass and percussion all the way to flags, the marching band seniors have a variety of talents. Some are veterans in the marching band (a handful have been in marching band for 5 years), and others have just started their first year. Their marching band show this year is focused on Green Day, the band. They play many songs at the games, but their contest songs include: American Idiot, 21 Guns, and Boulevard of Broken Dreams. Composing almost half of the Delphi Community High School marching band, the aforementioned seniors are nothing short of sensational.

Mr. Dennison says of the seniors, “My favorite thing about the seniors in marching band is their attitudes. They are always uplifting and positive.”
