Every year, DCHS offers a wide variety of clubs and extracurricular activities. These groups cover many different areas of focus and there is something for every interest. Below is a complete list of the clubs offered by DCHS, including information about when they meet and how to sign up.
FFA
FFA is a club focused around agriculture and community service work. NHS
National Honor Society (NHS) meets in Mr. Painter's room on the third Friday of the month during OT. When they meet, they discuss volunteer opportunities and ways to be more involved in the community. Students Against Destructive Decisions, or SADD, is a club that provides awareness to the school about drugs, alcohol, vaping, sex trafficking, and other destructive decisions that high school students might be making. Student Council
Student Council is a club dedicated to representing each class and helping organize different school events. You will often see them helping with different school events like prom and powder puff. Spanish Club
The Spanish Club meets once a month in Mrs. Hollingsworth’s room. They try foods from Spanish speaking countries, discuss different holidays, make crafts, etc. This month, they will be sampling chapulines. The French Club meets once a month during OT in Ms. McGill’s room. At meetings, they learn about France and French culture. They have French snacks and activities based on a theme which is dependent upon what is happening in France. Interact
Interact is a community service oriented club. It was made by the student body with the goal of giving back to the community. In the past, Interact has helped with dog walking at a local animal shelter and has worked with the African Library Project to create libraries in rural areas of Africa. Bracketology
Bracketology is a club that’s main purpose is to select the NCAA men’s basketball bracket for March Madness. To do this, they analyze statistics from all the NCAA teams throughout the season. Quiz Bowl is a trivia competition where students buzz in to answer questions on a variety of topics, sort of like Jeopardy. Each year, DCHS has a fall play and a spring musical. This year's play, Diary of a Wallflower, will be performed on Nov. 12 and 13 at 7 p.m. and on Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. Auditions are being held next week on Sept. 13 and 14 from 5-7 p.m. for the play, and the sign-up sheet is currently in the library for anyone who would like to audition.
