Stock market simulation in progress

On Sept. 21, Mr. Tonsoni’s economics classes started work on a stock market simulation project. The stock market simulation is a 10 week program meant to replicate the real stock market. The students are set up in groups with $100,000 of fictional money to buy and sell stocks and bonds in a simulated stock market over the next 10 weeks. During that time, students will learn to understand how the stock market works, to understand the need to invest for long term savings, and how individual companies do daily business.  According to Mr. Tonsoni, “The project is going well.” One student, Dalton Blankenship, is enjoying the simulation so far. He stated, “I’m just glad I’m in front of Mr. Tonsoni [in the rankings] since he has done this many times and this is my first.” The students still have plenty of time to learn and change ranking though, as the project will continue until December.
