French class participates in reverse extended learning

During most of September, French class was taught a little bit differently. Starting on Sept. 3, Ms. McGill, our DCHS French teacher, had to take an extended leave from school due to a family emergency. In her place, Mrs. Tyner, who retired as DCHS French teacher last year, came back to substitute; however, she stayed home. For three weeks, the French classes did virtual learning, but in reverse. In the classroom, a camera and a microphone were set up so the classes could video call Mrs. Tyner every day. They would then use whiteboards and markers to answer questions as a class. DCHS junior Makaila Summers said, “It was nice having Madame Tyner as a sub because we were used to her teaching methods. I think it went really well under the circumstances.” This ended on Sept. 28 when Ms. McGill returned to school.
