Book review: The Poet X

This month’s Book Club pick is the coming of age novel The Poet X. The Poet X is a novel written in verse by Elizabeth Acevedo following the main character Xiomara (See-oh-MAR-ruh), AKA Poet X. This novel follows her around as she finds her voice and learns it’s okay to embrace her curiosity about boys, her body, and her beliefs. She has to learn how to speak up when everyone around her is trying to silence her.  Everyone can find something in this book to relate to. I highly recommend it. If you are interested in reading it and joining this month’s Book Club discussion, talk to Mrs.Tonsoni in the LMC.
