2016 Fall Sports Review

Football: The Delphi Oracles’ football team ended their regular season with a 5-4 record, marking Coach Strasser’s first winning regular season in his five years of coaching at DCHS. Going into the first round of sectionals, the boys lost to Manchester High School, bringing their final record to 5-5. Overall, it was a successful season for the Oracles.

Boys’ Soccer: The Oracles’ season came to a close after a tough match against the Carroll Cougars in their first round of sectionals. The boys, playing for first year coach Ross Piechoki, got big wins against Benton Central and Caston.

Girls’ Soccer: With the guidance of rookie coach Meagan Grace, the Lady Oracles went into the record books this past season, winning a record four games. One of those four games was a 1-0 victory in their sectional opener against Taylor.

Volleyball: Under first year coach Kristine Lang, the Lady Oracle volleyball team seemed to catch a rhythm as the season progressed. Delphi may not have produced the record they were looking for, but they competed at a new level of competitiveness compared to last year’s team. The Lady Oracles can attribute their postseason run to their hard work and dedication throughout the season. In the sectionals, Delphi made it to the championship game where they fell to North Judson.

Tennis: The boys’ tennis team capped off a great season with their hard-fought loss to Lewis Cass in the first round of the Logansport sectional. The Oracles, under head coach Scott Gear, finished out the season with a record of 4-6. With the final loss of this year’s season, the team bid its farewell to a core group of seniors in Marcus Austin, Dalton Briles, JR Dyer, Caleb Myers, and Kain Myer.

Girls’ Golf:  DCHS continued to struggle in finding enough girls to field a full team. Senior Sierra Snyder and sophomore Abi Bieghler were the only participants. A highlight of the season was Snyder’s 4th place at the Caston Invitational. Head coach Dave Gilbert is looking forward to next year and hoping that more girls will participate in the 2017 season.
