Terror attacks in Paris

On Friday the 13th, Paris was attacked by the radical group known as ISIS. The attacks occurred in many places such as a stadium, local café, and a popular nightclub. There are 129 people dead and over 350 people injured with 80 -99 of the injured in critical condition. The attacks began at 9:30 p.m. European time, or 3:30 p.m. American time.

At 9:20 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., suicide bombers blew themselves up outside of Stade- de- France. The bomber is thought to have been trying to get into the stadium in order to blow up the stadium and the people inside. Fortunately, guards stopped the bomber before they were able to enter. The French president was present during this match. After the explosion occurred, he was escorted from the stadium as the game continued.

In the 10th arrondissement, which is another name for the divisions of paris, at around 9:25 p.m., gunman in a black vehicle opened fire on people in the Le Carillon Bar and Le Petit Cambodge restaurant. Fifteen people were killed and ten were in critical condition. At 9:32 p.m., more gunshots were fired in the Rue de la Fontaine au Roi. Nineteen people were gunned down and nine people were wounded at the Belle Equipe, a popular bar in the 11th arrondissement.

At 9:40 p.m., it was reported that three men carrying “war weapons” were spotted entering a popular nightclub where the American band, Eagles of Death Metal, were playing. The shooters fired randomly into the crowd, trying to kill as many people as possible. Eighty-nine people were killed, making this was the most deadly attack of the terrorist attacks.

Paris was not the only city to be attacked on Friday. At 6 p.m., Beirut, Lebanon was also the site of horrible bombings. Forty- three people lost their lives. Similar to the Paris attacks, people were killed at random. Around 26 people were also killed in Baghdad by suicide bombers as well as planted bombs. These Attacks were directed towards the Shiites. Many people have been seriously wounded. ISIS has claimed all the attacks.

Paris has been met with outstanding support from its fellow countries. In order to honor the people that died, Paris darkened the Eiffel Tower. There were no lights, as a sign of mourning. Monuments in almost every other  country were colored the colors of the French flag. People everywhere picked up the saying: “Today, we are all Parisians.” in response to the terror attacks.  Over a week has passed since these atrocious acts. Parisians as well as countries all over the world have stood up together condemning these attacks. As a memorial, Parisians filled the streets with flowers and candles.

While Paris is recuperating from these horrible attacks, there have been more  terrorist bomb threats and shooting threats. During the Paris attacks, the terrorists seem to have attacked places associated with other countries. The soccer match that was attacked was against Germany, and the band in the club was an American band. Brussels has been under a serious threat. All countries in Europe have been put under a stricter border control. America has had no direct attack, but it is suspected that there might be some danger.

There were a suspected 10 to 20 accomplices involved in the Paris attacks. While most of the people involved died by either suicide bombing or police interactions, there has been one or possibly a few attackers that have managed to sneak out. Police are looking for them and have issued out a report of caution for interacting with the attackers. As time goes on, the police are closer to finding them.

Paris is coming back from the attacks. A full list of the deceased has been released and memorial events have been held in order to honor them. The lights on the Eiffel Tower have even been relit. France has been bombing suspected ISIS camps and continues to work toward moving on from this event.
