Senior Spotlight: Get to know your student body president

Having evolved from the kid from Faith, to student body president, senior Cole Rickels has finally peaked.  Cole likes visors, tie dye, and hammocking.  Other than that (and his peculiar obsession with moms), he is just a regular girl with a dream.

Cole is one of many students at the high school who deserves a spot in the limelight. He is respected among both students and teachers for his dedication to sports practices, his commitment to academics, and his involvement in numerous clubs.  Cole is involved with the DCHS soccer team, National Honor Society, Student Council, Interact, and DECA.  He is an avid member of the Delphi Bracketology Club which was nationally recognized as Bracket Matrix National Champs last year.

Arguably the most important position Cole holds is Senior Class President. According to Rickels, his “main goal as class President is to work towards a smooth sailing school year for everyone. This includes planning for lively school events, such as after prom, and creating multiple incentives, especially for seniors.”

Because Cole is a senior, we had to ask about his future plans. Next year, he hopes to either attend the University of Chicago or Texas A&M to major in microbiology.  In ten years, he sees himself graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in microbiology, graduated from Vanderbilt Medical School specializing in Pathology; and either pursuing a residency in a U.S. hospital or traveling in Africa employed by Doctors Without Borders.  In 20 years, he would like to be pursuing a career in pathology in the U.S. or performing research for a university and “probably having kids at some point idk.”

For the time being, Cole enjoys spending time with his nephew, Rory, and teaching him his ways.  That being said, the entire purpose of this senior spotlight is to clarify that Cole Rickels did not highlight his hair.
