Summer 16: DCHS represented at Klipsch and beyond

For some, a crowded arena filled with screaming girls and drunk, middle aged balding folks is a  terrifying thought; however uncomfortable, they could not understand why someone would pay money to endure such an event.  This piece is not for those people.  For others, concerts defined Summer ‘16.  After interviewing some of Delphi’s finest students, Parnassus found a variety of shows our students and staff attended.

Country concerts were often mentioned amongst students and staff.  Grace Smith (sophomore) saw Dustin Lynch, Colten Slifer (junior) saw Hank Williams Jr. and Chris Stapleton, and Senora Hollingsworth jammed in the Klipsch parking lot to Dierks Bentley.

From the rock category, Brian (Beard) Cunningham (senior) said, “It was awesome *throws up rock and roll hand signs*,” pertaining to the Kiss and Kansas performances.

Pop/Rap concerts, according to Kenzie Kirkwood (senior), were “lit dude.” Iasac Casuntes (junior) attended the Wiz Khalifa concert, Madison Riley totally fangirled at the Justin Bieber concert, Lexi Spitsnogle (junior) saw G Eazy himself, and Katie Gear (sophomore) and Kylah Flores (senior) had the best night of their existence seeing their idol Lauren Sanderson and their new best friend, Quinn (aka Former Vandal).

Although avoiding bias in journalism is a major concern, I will say I left the best for last.  Joshua Dunn and Tyler Joseph, together known as Twenty-One Pilots, came to town to see a couple of Delphi’s very own.  Kalena Shidler (sophomore), Erika Ross (senior), Kylah Flores (senior), Kenzie Kirkwood (senior), and Emilee Gear (senior) all were honored to be in the same fieldhouse as the inspiring duo.

For our non-concert goers (whether by choice or chance), youtube vids will not give you the same rush as the flashing lights and vibration in your chest from the bass, or the sweet bliss of being connected to the people surrounding you through the messages carried through the grand speakers.
