The Delphi Lady Oracle basketball team took on the Carroll Cougars last Tuesday, Jan.10 in their annual rivalry matchup. The Oracles, entering the game with a 10-4 record, led the Cougars for the majority of the first half after erasing an early four point deficit. Punches from both squads, however, kept the game close until the end of the 2nd quarter where senior Rylee Lane and junior Katherine Lang hit a couple key 3-point field goals for the Oracles. At halftime, Delphi held a 28-23 advantage.

With every opportunity to run away with a win, the Lady Oracles came across an offensive drought in the second half. After posting 28 points in the first two quarters of the game, stout defense from the Cougars held Delphi to just 13 total points in the second half. Carroll, led by 19 points from senior Macy Willoughby, tallied 33 in the second half to complete a 56-41 route of the Lady Oracles. In the loss, Lang led Delphi with 14 while junior Emily Jakes contributed 8.

Following Carroll, the Lady Oracles faced the Bison of Benton Central last Thursday, Jan. 12 at home. Delphi dropped its second in a row in the 53-43 loss and moved to 10-6 on the season. The Lady Oracles are back in action Tuesday, Jan. 17 at Harrison.
