Senior Spotlight – Kolt Kinsler

For Delphi senior Kolt Kinsler, athletics have always been an important aspect of his educational career. Throughout his time at Delphi Community High School, Kolt has been a member of the cross country, soccer, swimming and diving, and track and field teams. Many student athletes will often tell you how time consuming three sports are, but for Kolt, four sports wasn’t even enough to boggle his schedule. “It is really simple for me to manage my time between my education and athletics,” said Kinsler. “ The main thing I do is to simply attend my sports practice, then I sit down and complete my homework afterwards.”
Any student-athlete would be able to explain the importance of athletics in their lives. When asked how athletics impacted his life, Kinsler replied,” Sports have made a huge impact on my life. I use sports to help me relieve stress and also to stay in shape.” Kinsler’s swimming and diving coach, Norma Carpenter, had only good things to say about Kolt. “Kolt has always worked very hard. He has the potential to win a sectional championship this year in diving.”
As a student-athlete, Kinsler has accomplished many great achievements over the last four years. Kolt is a member of the Varsity D Club, he is the Vice President of the FFA, and he is also a member of National Honor Society. On the field, Kolt was able to help the Delphi boys’ soccer team capture its first sectional title this past year. Kolt was also a part of the cross country team his freshman year that won the Carroll High School Invitational. In the pool, Kinsler was also a regional qualifier in diving,
“ The biggest life lesson that I have taken out of sports is that when you get down and let your emotions take over, you will not achieve your goals. It is when you go all out all the time and put your best possible effort that you will achieve your goals.”
