Volleyball and football sectional draws posted

The IHSAA sectional draws were recently released for volleyball and football, and both Oracle squads received favorable draws.

The DCHS volleyball team will compete in class 2A sectional 34, which will take place at North Judson High School from Oct. 22 until the championship match on Oct. 26. The Oracles start out the tournament in the semifinal match against Rensselaer. On the other side of the bracket, North Newton gets a bye, awaiting the winner of North Judson and Winamac. “I think we got a great draw with a great chance of advancing to the championship,” senior captain Emma Carpenter said. If you would like to attend, North Judson High School is located at 1 Bluejay Drive, in North Judson. Admission to the games is $6 per game, or $9 for a tournament pass.

The football team will compete in the 8-team class 2A sectional 35. The Oracles’ first game will be away against the Bison of Benton Central, whom they have already beaten once this year. If victorious, they will then play the winner of Southmont and Taylor. The Oracles lucked out of having Central Catholic or Tipton on their side of the bracket, both being top five teams in class 2A. “We got a great draw. Not having to play CC or Tipton and having a great shot at getting to the sectional championship game gives you so much confidence,” junior wide receiver Mason Lane said. The host sites will vary from game to game. The admission for each sectional game is $6.
