What’s your horoscope today?

Whats+your+horoscope+today%3F

Horoscopes are fun little predictions of how your day is projected to go according to the relative position of the stars and planets and at what time of the year you were born. Many live out their days through their horoscope, but some don’t even know their zodiac signs. Many magazines post weekly horoscopes for their readers to check. I began to check mine every Monday through Cosmopolitan. Most have been extremely accurate, but some don’t even make sense.

For those of you who are new to the horoscope scene, here are the basics. There were originally 12 zodiac signs, but a 13th was recently found. Due to the precision of the axis of the Earth, the ancient star signs no longer are in line with their current positions. The stars are completely out of whack! The dates of the star signs of the Zodiac had to be adjusted and moved around to keep the horoscopes accurate. Therefore, Ophiuchus was welcomed to the family. NASA released a heartbreaking article earlier this year about the shifting of signs and the introducing of the 13th zodiac sign. Apparently, the Babylonians created Ophiuchus over 3,000 years ago but did away with it due to the 13 constellations not corresponding with our 12 month calendar.

Zodiac signs are based off of what time of the year you were born. For example, I am an Aries because I was born in between March 21st – April 19th. Each horoscope is based off of the position of the stars and which constellation your zodiac is revolved around. Many believe that the outcome of their days can be predicted by the the positions of the stars and planets, but others think it is all just a hoax.

It is believed that you corroborate well with people that you share a sign with. It is a big thing on social media to get your sign tattooed on your body or to have it in your bio. Now you begin to see why it was such a big deal when the signs changed, adding a 13th sign and changing many signs around. So you know that Scorpio sign you got on your shoulder last summer? How are you to explain that now? Or what if you no longer have the same zodiac as your boyfriend? That’d be awkward! Many think that each Zodiac has its set behavior or thought process and everyone is similar. There are few that only will date within their Zodiac sign because they believe that they have the same likes and dislikes. I recently discovered that I share a sign with my best friend since second grade. Coincidence or not?
