Sassy’s Salon sure to please

Sassys+Salon+sure+to+please

Every town needs a sanctuary—a place where individuals and families can go and be pampered, a place to be taken care of. For many in Delphi and surrounding areas—one such sanctuary is Sassy’s Salon.

Sassy’s Salon is a place of color and art, of magic and relationships. Looking around at the space you will see an abundant amount of hair products lining the walls. The once white walls are now swirls of blue and green, chrome and gold. Makeup and their brushes own a corner accompanied by a chair, ready for application. The buzzing of blow dryers control any empty space that the radio and conversation left to silence. The energy created by laughter and storytelling is not overwhelming, but invigorating and relaxing—both at the same time.

Ann Herron, Sassy’s owner, has been a stylist for 18 years, eight of which before she opened up the salon in Delphi. “I wanted to open Sassy’s Salon because I had worked for other companies that did not support education. I spoke with my mentor, Michael O’ Rourke with Sexy Hair; he gave me really great advice. He said, ‘If you can’t find the right place, create it.’ So I did, 10 years ago. And it has been a very quick 10 years!”

Ann currently employs six stylists. Enice Hampton, 10 year hairdresser and most veteran employee of the salon, said she most enjoys haircutting because she gets to create structure.

Michelle Alexander has worked in the industry for a total of 20 years, but has only worked at the shop for the last five of them. She said, “I really enjoy perming, texturizing.”

Four year stylist, Megan Schick, has experience only working at Sassy’s Salon and enjoys updo’s because that is where she feels that she can be most creative.

Erin Williamson is the youngest employee at Sassy’s Salon and has been out of beauty school for one year now. Out of all the services provided by the salon, she enjoys haircutting best.

Sharim Shields is the newest edition to Sassy’s Salon and has been a stylist for just over two years. She said, “I like anything to do with nails—manicures, pedicures…but of those, what I probably enjoy most are pedicures.”

Sassy’s Salon offers a variety of different services including perms, manicures, makeup application, and hair highlighting. They also service wedding parties, as well as other formal events, such as school dances. Ann Herron’s goal is to help make these services as affordable as possible, so she quite often runs sales in her shop. Sassy’s Salon recently got involved in a ‘text club.’ By texting ‘Sassys’ to the number 3600, the sender will be registered to receive text messages from Sassy’s Salon containing information of sales on products and services. Just come in and show the cashier the text message with the sale on it, and the appropriate amount will be removed from the bill. All standard text messaging rates apply to the text club.

So take a step into the world of Sassy’s, fall in deep with color and art. Experience the joy; embrace the energy. It is sure to be a positive experience.

Sassy’s Salon is located at 114 North Washington Street in Delphi.
