Craigslist connected in Georgia murder.

On Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, the bodies of an elderly couple, Elrey and June Runion, were found in McRae, Georgia, 180 miles away from their hometown of Marietta.  They had last been seen driving a 2003 GMC Envoy, which was later discovered in a nearby lake.

The couples’ daughter reported her parents missing, and the search began. The local police were assisted by the FBI and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Police learned that the couple had placed many advertisements looking for a 1966 Mustang.  Ronnie Adrian Towns had posted on Craigslist that he had a 1966 Mustang for sale in Marietta, Georgia, and the Runions traveled there to purchase the vehicle and then went missing.

After further investigation, police found Towns had a criminal record that included giving false statements and a criminal attempt to commit theft by deception. The police found that Towns did not own a Mustang and that all communication between him and the couple were on false pretenses.  He turned himself in after the bodies were found.
