In this day and age, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find a suitable role model to look up to. I’m not going to name names, but there always seems to be that one person who either sings about provocative subjects, cannot be bothered to care about anyone other than themselves, or is so narcissistic that it actually makes your head hurt. In the world of the “me” mentality, it isn’t often that we find people who care about everyone. Luckily for you, I’ve compiled a list of people who I see to be suitable.

Michelle Obama

Democrat or Republican, we can all agree that Michelle Obama has served as the First Lady with grace that we haven’t seen since Jackie Kennedy. Showing her true intent to help better the well being of children across the nation, Michelle Obama implemented her Let’s Move campaign to help fight against the growing trend of childhood obesity.

John Cena

The professional wrestler may seem a bit rough around the edges (especially with biceps that are bigger than most average sized heads), but recently, Cena participated in his record-breaking 500th wish for the “Make-a-Wish Foundation,” which brings a bit of joy into the lives of terminally ill children.

This little fishy won our hearts with her inspirational mantra “just keep swimming.” Ellen Degeneres has taken kindness to the next level. Using her talk show as a platform to speak about anti-bullying and acceptance, Degeneres has become one of the most renowned role models of our day.

Unlike most of today’s musicians, Jackson sang of social and worldly issues such as media distortion, racism, and acceptance of both himself and others. Jackson was at the forefront of many human rights’ issues, and he brought the truth of media distortion to the light.
