Olivias tips and tricks: Meaningful gift ideas

Even though we just entered December, Christmas is catching up on us, and there might not be a lot of time to figure out what you’re going to give all of your gift recipients. Most of the time, when someone asks me: “What would you like for Christmas?” I respond with the usual, “I don’t know.” This response can come from anyone you are trying to buy a gift for, and even if you know what they like, finding a gift is tough business. You want to get them something they will enjoy, that will also carry a meaning. Here are some meaningful gift ideas that may help you get through these tough gift buying times.

DIY Gifts

If you are struggling to find the perfect gift, make your own! DIY gifts are always fun to make, and fun to give/receive. You can make anything from a no-sew blanket to a scrapbook of pictures of you and your gift receiver. They can be so personal to each person, and something that they can cherish for many years. To figure out which DIY gift is the best to give to your person, Pinterest is a great.

Sweaters

During Christmas/winter we all know it is always below freezing outside, so why not give someone a sweater? They will have you to thank as they stay warm and cozy despite the chilly weather.

Hot cocoa

One of the all time throwbacks to childhood around Christmas time is drinking hot cocoa. You can always find hot chocolate kits around this time in any store. Just wrap it up and put a bow on it, and I’m sure they will love it when they’re curled up sipping on their nice warm drink.

Books

Books are a great thing to get someone because books can give new insights to the world in general, and if it is a favorite book of yours, it can create a more personal connection between the two of you.  A personal inscription on the inside cover is always a nice touch.

There are so many different ideas for gifts this holiday season, so you can’t go wrong. Whether it costs fifty dollars or ten dollars, if you put thought and effort into the gift you are giving, it is sure to be appreciated.
