Just when we finally have gotten over The Fault In Our Stars , the movie of the New York Times best seller If I Stay is released.   The upcoming release has caused thousands of  people to read the book in preparation for the highly anticipated movie.  If I Stay tells the story of a seventeen year old girl, Mia Hall, who goes through an out of body experience after being a victim in a tragic car accident that claimed the lives of her family.  Mia ponders the ultimate decision of whether to live or die.

Mia’s whole life has been based around music.  She is an extremely talented cellist who dreams of attending Juilliard, a famous music school in New York, and hopes to one day play in the Philharmonic Orchestra.  Her love for music is shared with  her parents, little brother, and most recently her boyfriend Adam, who is a member of the up and coming band Shooting Star.  Music is a part of Mia and something she could not live without.  After the fatal car crash, Mia is clinging to life in the intensive care unit.  Mia is stuck in the middle between life and death.  She spends the next significant hours of her life flashing back to important moments from her past.  The final events of the day help Mia make the biggest decision of her life—whether to stay or go.

If I Stay was written by Gayle Forman.  Forman is a New York Times best-selling author of Where She Went, Just One Day, and Just One Year. She wrote the story in dedication to her husband.  If you love to read young adult literature, If I Stay and any other book by Gayle Forman would be a great choice.  If you enjoy reading novels like The Fault In Our Stars by John Greenor The Spectacular Now by Tim Tharp, you will love this book. If you do not like sad stories then this book is probably not for you, because the storyline sends you through a whole web of emotions.  Gayle Forman draws you in with her brilliant storyline and makes you stay with the book to learn the final decision.  She is an amazing writer who is able to put the ups and downs of life on to paper. If I Stay is a book filled with romance, tragedy, and hope that will keep you reading until the very last page.
